Roster Information

Enclosed in this newsletter is a copy of the latest roster.  Please take the time to look over your information and insure it's accuracy.  If there are any errors please let Scott Hersha or Norm Beaudette know the corrections.  A new roster will be distributed early next year with all of the 2004 member information.  At the end of every year we have to submit a chapter status report to EAA National in Wisconsin.  Among the information they need is EAA numbers and renewal dates, so please let us know that information as well.  Please contact Scott or Norm by email or phone.  [ Web Editor's Note: In order to preserve the privacy of our members over the Internet, the roster is not published on these pages.  If you would like a printable file of the latest roster, please send a brief email message, e.g. "Please send roster.", using either of the following links: PDF format or MS Word97 format.  Please include your name and EAA membership number.  You MUST also use an email address that is currently in our database.  Rosters will NOT be sent to unconfirmed email addresses. ]

Chapter Dues

Just a reminder for those who haven't paid their $16.00 annual chapter dues yet....they are due now.  Please send or give you dues to President Tim Fry or another officer.  Also if you could write your EAA number and renewal date on the check, it will help us with our chapter status report.  As you probably know, to be a member of Chapter 174, or any EAA chapter for that matter, you must also be a member of the EAA.  This requirement comes directly from EAA national.  If anyone needs a membership application see me.

Scott Hersha, Membership Coordinator

Treasurer

There is an interim need for someone to fill in as treasurer of our chapter until our new officers take over in January.  Chapter treasurer Elizabeth Szoke had to step down for professional reasons and will be unable to complete this years term.  Right now the duties of the treasurer are being handled by the board of directors and they will make a decision on how to fill the short term void at the next board meeting.  Our treasury is in fine shape and we'd like to thank Elizabeth for her hard work and help in organizing our accounting.  Thanks Elizabeth, we wish you the best of luck with your Velocity!

Minutes From the September Board Meeting

The September board meeting of EAA Chapter 174 was called to order by President Tim Fry at Clermont County Airport.

bulletTom Jenkins reported on Young Builders
bulletThe composite rudder project is almost finished.
bulletThe next project will be the restoration (not to fly) of a Luscombe, provided by Steve Brightwell.

bulletIt is Hal Shevers' plan to tear down the County Building (our meeting place) in the next 6 months. The old T-hangars, which need new underground electric service, will be torn down too.

bulletArt West and Mark Webb make up this year's nominating committee.

bulletThe possibility of a dues increase was discussed, as the chapter bank account is going down.  It was decided that a detailed cost study and projection must be done before asking for an increase in dues. Future presidents and boards should plan a budget for their terms, something that has never been done before.  The chapter may have to dip into the CD, which matures in March, to cover expenses. It may be necessary to charge a fee for the Christmas party.

Respectfully submitted:
Lee Jewell, Secretary

Minutes From the September Chapter Meeting (Picnic)

A brief meeting was called to order at the annual chapter picnic by Vice President Tom Jenkins.

bulletThere was no old business to be discussed.

bulletNew business disclosed that we would have a raffle at the picnic, the prize being a ride in our host Todd Winemiller's North American T-6. 21 tickets were sold and the lucky winner was Mike Franzago.

bulletTom announced that we were collecting annual dues and several members took the opportunity to pay for the upcoming year.

bulletTom mentioned the nominating committee, Art West and Mark Webb, are still looking for candidates for Vice President and Secretary.

bulletLee Jewell discussed the Sep 27 fly-out where our destination will be the "Wood, Fabric and Tailwheels Fly-in" at Lee Bottom Flying Field, Hanover, IN.

bulletLee also talked about the scheduled stop at Xenia's Greene County Airport of the National Air Tour, 2003.

bulletRay Kneipp Jr. read a letter of appreciation from the mother of one of our most recent Young Eagles.

bulletPhil Cady announced we would not have a formal Young Eagles Day on Oct 4. As he receives the paper work for additional YE rides, he will contact individual pilots to schedule the rides.

bulletMany thanks to Todd Winemiller for allowing us to have our picnic at his beautiful grass strip and to all the volunteers who helped make it a fun day.

bulletThe meeting was adjourned so that Mike and Todd could go tear up the field in the T-6, after which Bob Porter won the spot landing contest in Don Reasoner's RV-6.

Respectfully submitted:
Lee Jewell, Secretary
